We make continuous efforts to reduce our environmental footprint and improve our resource efficiency. In addition to developing our own operations, we aim to guide our entire value chain toward a more positive impact. 

The environmental effects of Olvi arise across the full value chain—from our own activities to those of our suppliers. That’s why we believe in developing sustainable practices together with our partners. Responsible supply chain management and procurement practices have a significant impact on the environment, climate, and society.  

Responsibility for the Environment  

Protecting nature and biodiversity is a core priority for us. Our most significant environmental impacts include greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and material consumption.   

Sustainability, in this context, means using raw materials, energy, and packaging efficiently, promoting recycling, and optimizing transportation. We take active steps to reduce our environmental footprint every day.  

Our key focus areas—reducing carbon emissions, managing water consumption and wastewater, and improving material efficiency—define our shared environmental goals. We also collaborate across the value chain to promote regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming practices. 

REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

Olvi aims to mitigate climate change both in its own operations and throughout its value chain. The majority of climate emissions originate from the value chain. In accordance with the transition plan for climate change mitigation, the most important tools for reducing value chain emissions are material development and packaging redesign, product portfolio development, and reducing emissions from transportation. Emissions from the company’s own production are reduced through the use of renewable electricity and energy sources, as well as by improving energy efficiency. Read more

SUSTAINABLE WATER USE

We aim to improve our water use efficiency by using only the necessary amount of water in the production and by developing our washing processes. We seek to increase water recycling and reuse. We also put effort into efficient pre-treatment of wastewater. Read more

PROMOTING THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

As a manufacturing industry operator, the Olvi Group uses significant amounts of raw materials and packaging. We reduce material use, reuse materials, and recycle. We are increasing the role of the circular economy in raw materials and packaging by expanding the use of recycled and surplus materials. We are also developing the reuse of by-products and material flows from our processes. Additionally, we act in local organizations to develop beverage packaging recycling systems. Read more
